Ode To A Dinosaur

Hi Guys!
(especially to all Tekken fanatics)

Remember last Friday when I said I was suppose to feature someone?
Yes I'm not making it up. As a matter of fact, it's an interview with a PRO Tekken player.
Fortunately today, after a week of anxiousness (thinking he would back out ahahah)
I was able to steal some of his time. (Nah..I literally begged for it LOL!).

LET'S BEGIN!

ME: Today I want to introduce you guys, the man behind the most popular Tekken team in the Philippines. Known as JAIL in Tekken Zaibatsu, the Founder of T'Recs himself,
Lyan Tansingco!
LYAN: Hi everyone!
ME: So in behalf of the readers, I would say "HI TOO!" *LOL!*
Lyan, it's an honor for me to interview you.
I know that you're such a busy person so I won't take much of your time.
Let's now begin with my not-so-pro-interview-questions. (haha!)
MEWas Tekken your first played arcade game?
LYAN: Yes.
ME: Cool! So, when did you started playing Tekken and what's your favorite series?
LYAN: I started at the age of 20. (do the math guys, LOL!)
All Tekken series are my favorite, even Tekken 4, which most of my colleagues don't like.
ME: Who's your all-time favorite character?
LYAN: None, specifically. I tried different characters based on their abilities,
I love using characters who I can easily adapt to.
I can only say that Marduk was my most played character since Tekken 4.
ME: No favorites at all, hehe.
What can you say about Tekken 6?
LYAN: It's good.
ME: What do you think about Rage System?
Do you find it awesome?
LYAN: Yes, because it adds spice to the game.
The effects are pretty cool as well as the added damage you get when your health goes critical.
ME: Yeah, for me it also adds suspense, since one mistake will definitely KO the winning character. Would you say that you would like it applied also in previous Tekken series? (referring to Rage System)
LYANHonestly, back then, I am not thinking about those effects in Tekken's previous series. It's a good thing that Namco added those.
MEHow about the Bound system?
LYAN: It's cool too.
ME: How do you maintain your skills in playing Tekken, how long do you practice in a day? How many times a week?
LYAN: No, I don't practice at all. No time anymore.
(isn't that cool? to play without practice and to win w/o practice)
Tekken Zaibatsu Forum
ME: You're known as the founder of TRecs. When did it started and how did you come up with that team name?
LYAN: When I started playing Tekken, back in the 90's, there were 2 teams.
SM North and Recto. SM North team is just SM North. TRec's was Team Recto and it started between year '97-98, we later changed it to Tekken Recto.
(more than 10 years already, awesome right?)
ME: So that's where the name came from.
And what can you say about the upcoming Street Fighter X Tekken?
LYAN: No comment.
ME: Why?
LYAN: It's because I haven't tried the game yet, so until I've played Street Fighter X Tekken, that's the only time I'm gonna say something.
ME: Fair enough. Do you always participate in tournaments?
LYAN: Yes. (he's pretty active I presume)
There's just 2 tournaments I wasn't able to attend.
The one in Moomba Resto and Tekken PIT. (see?)
ME: Any trophies you bagged from the tourney?
LYAN: Yes, I got some at home.
ME: Can I have one too? (Lyan just laughed, err..)
Would you recommend other arcade games aside from Tekken?
LYAN: Sure, I also recommend Street Fighter.
ME: Yeah, that has a good gameplay too.
For my last question, how do you maintain respect in Tekken community?
LYAN: You cannot expect other people to always follow, that's human nature. Respect is earned not forced.
ME: Thank you for that Lyan, so to wrap this up. Any message for those aspiring Tekken gamers?

"This game is meant to be fun. There's always someone who will lose and someone who will win. Whatever the outcome is, just accept it. This game will give you either Friends or Enemies. Its up to you which one you'd pick."
-Lyan

And as a gamer myself, I strongly agree that games were developed and created to be enjoyed. I would say that I've learned a lot with that almost 1 hour of interview, whew! Some says he's a snob, but I object since I enjoyed talking to him and literally laughing all through our conversation.

So that's about it.
Thank you guys for reading. Ta!
