In The World of Murim

I love to read manga, may it be shounen, shoujo, or seinen, I will not miss it if the story line is good. And since Manga has been the signature name to most scanlated comic sites I have visited, I definitely will brand all scans there as manga. Little did I know, that some of the series there should be called, Manhwa.

Manhwa [manɦwa;많와] is the general Korean term for comics and print cartoons (common usage also includes animated cartoons). Outside of Korea, the term usually refers specifically to South Korean comics. The term, along with manga, is a cognate of the Chinese manhua. Manhwa were inspired by classic Asian arts, especially Chinese. Manhwa has been influenced by the dramatic modern history of Korea, resulting in a diversity of forms and genres, including a mainstream style similar to manga. Distinctive Manhwa can be found in editorial comic strips, artistically-oriented works, and web comics serials.
DID YOU KNOW ► That Full House in 2004 and Goong ("Palace" or "Princess Hours") in 2006, are some of the Manhwa series adapted to live drama. Even the 2011 American horror film, Priest was also adapted from Manhwa.
I learnt about the term Manhwa when I accidentally used Advance Search option, to sort out finished series in Manga Fox. Yes, I am sorting finished series because I'm not fond of waiting. And all this time, I have been ignorantly telling everyone that the series I was reading was Manga. (LOL!)

My recent finished Manhwa series:
The Breaker (Part 1)
published by Daiwon C.I.
written by Jeon Geuk-Jin (전극진),
illustrated by Park Jin-Hwan (박진환 or Kamaro)

Of course, I recommended the series as soon as I finished it. I posted it to different Facebook groups I'm in and even published it to my wall. Just imagine how I forced someone who's not fond of reading to read it, ahahaha. (evil grin)

Most of the time, after office hours, I'll head directly home and spend the rest of the day playing HON (HON=Heroes of Newerth). But my daily routine changed after I started reading The Breaker (last week). I literally ignored the game just to focus on this manhwa. I even downloaded it to my phone so that I can still read it while lying in bed. Believe me, I sometimes tire from sitting infront of my PC. (stop rolling your eyes!)

It's a mix of martial arts, fantasy, shounen and a hint of comedy/drama. The illustrator successfully depicted what the author of this series wanted to achieve. You will feel the emotion of each characters just by looking at his drawings.

So close to perfection (my opinion, not yours LOL!), that even through black and white scans (c/o Manga Fox), the feeling of the story has not been hindered. I'm not gonna talk about the story, I hate spoilers too, you know.

It moves fast, but not fast enough. As you get into the story, you'll definitely left panting for more information and more forward motion, because it's so plainly evident that everything that's going on, is going to have consequences.

I admit having this habit of being overly obsessive to almost everything. (LOL!)
Too much "BLAH!" and another "BLAH!" will not explain why I'm so into it.
That's why I am also going to recommend this manhwa series to you.

I hereby certify that I hold no shares nor connected to the publisher of this series.
(ahahaha!)

You may think that I'm exaggerating . And maybe right now you're prolly thinking that it's not as great as your manga series. But come to think of it, why claim great if there's no comparison at all?

Therefore, reading The Breaker manhwa, is the answer. (persuasive isn't it? :) )

Band of the New Age

L-R►Miks Bersales, EO Marcos, PaoloValenciano, Sho Hikino

Salamin is a Christian alternative metal band from the Philippines, founded in 2005. They launched their self-titled debut album in 2006. The name of the band was suggested by their former vocalist, JR Enrile, who took it from  a building he saw in Salcedo Village, Makati.

Musical influences such as Deftones, Linkin Park, Incubus, Rage Against The Machine, Foo Fighters, The Mars Volta, Sparta, Coheed and Cambria, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, have led their way to rock nation and garnered various accolades such as MTV Philippines' Rising Star and nominated for NU Rock Awards' Best New Act.

Honestly, I wasn't impressed with Salamin's first album (which I copied from my colleague, hehe). I saved it in my iPhone expecting a lot. But I ended up pressing skip and never really bothered listening at all.

However, things changed instantaneously after seeing them perform live. I couldn't help but be totally mesmerized with the way they owned the stage. The transformation is really outstanding and unbashingly explosive.

Their music, though refreshing,
is still distinctively new to mainstream.
But then again, innovation also applies to music.
For me, "Hello Anxiety", is worth every penny.
